Poolers: Players to target for January 25 matches

Every day, the NHL.com team of hockey pool experts provides an overview of the different teams that will face each other and identifies certain players who could stand out and experience success.

ATTACKERS

Adam Fantilli, CBJ (vs LAK) – The young Blue Jackets forward is a player with full confidence these days. After scoring his first career hat trick in front of family and friends in Toronto on Wednesday, Fantilli followed up with two assists the next day in a duel against the Carolina Hurricanes. His good performance and the absence of Sean Monahan (injured) means that Fantilli obtains more and more responsibilities. He has spent more than 20 minutes on the ice in four of his last six games, something he had done only twice in his first 43 games of the season. Since the start of 2025, Fantilli has only been shut out twice in 11 games, a stretch in which he has 13 points (seven goals, six assists).

Bo Horvat, NYI (vs CAR) – The Islanders center will be looking for a point in a fifth straight game. During his last four outings, Horvat collected six points (four goals, two assists), including three on the power play, maintained a +3 differential and fired no fewer than 18 shots on goal – an aspect that can be paying in multi-category leagues. Horvat and the Islanders are on a roll with three straight wins.

DEFENDER

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, TOR (vs OTT) – After a series of five games without a point, Ekman-Larsson got on the scoresheet in each of his last three games, collecting a goal and four assists. Two of his points were recorded on the power play, a facet that can be interesting against the Senators, who have a low performance of 71.4% on the penalty kill in their last three games.

GUARDIAN

Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA (vs. SJS) – Bobrovsky will return to net after watching Spencer Knight get the start against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday. The Panthers are 4-4-1 in their last nine games, but they are heavily favored against the Sharks, who have lost their last five games in regulation and have just one win in their last nine parts. San Jose blew a 5-1 lead on Thursday before losing 7-5 against the Nashville Predators.
