This Thursday evening, in the Briey sector (Meurthe-et-), a wind turbine caught fire. This type of fire is not so rare in .

Wind turbine fires are always spectacular. This is what Info Trafic Lorraine et Frontière (ITLF) was able to observe, which shared photos and a video where we see the fire bursting from the top of the wind turbine, as well as flaming debris falling on the ground. The scene was filmed in the Briey area. It would be a machine from the Anoux wind farm.

As reported by the Républicain Lorrain, the alert was given by a farmer around 9:45 p.m. Firefighters from the Mancieulles barracks went to the scene, before being joined by reinforcements from Briey.

This is not the first time that such a fire has been observed in France. According to the industrial accidentology reference base, we have identified 31 fires occurred on wind turbines between 2006 and 2022.
