Hamas Should Tell Israel Saturday Number of Live and Dead Hostages Without Specifying Their Identities

The Hamas terrorist organization is expected to hand over to Israel on Saturday the number of living and dead hostages, rather than a full list of names detailing each person’s condition, the Israeli channel reported Thursday evening Can, citing an assessment by Israeli security officials.

If these estimates are accurate and no detailed list is provided, it means the families of the hostages will not know what happened to their loved ones. However, the figures provided by Hamas will allow the kidnapped administration to compile an updated list of hostages, although this may take time.

Hamas is also expected to provide Israel on Friday with the names of the four female hostages who will be released on Saturday. The list will be transmitted by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed al-Thani to Mossad chief Dedi Barnea. It should include female soldiers and civilians without knowing in what proportions. Israel is preparing for Hamas to return the observers to uniform, to emphasize that even though they were kidnapped while wearing civilian clothes, they are soldiers.

As in the first phase of the agreement, the army intends to allow the mothers of the hostages to meet them immediately after their arrival in Israel. It should be noted that the release of Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher highlighted the fact that some hostages served as human shields for senior Hamas officials during their captivity.

Israel demanded that Arbel Yehud be included in the list of hostages released on Saturday and sent a threatening message to Hamas, saying that if it does not respect the agreement, residents will not be allowed to return to the northern Strip from Gaza.
