However, the government has released a rabbit from its hat just a few hours before the scheduled date, announcing that six classes would remain open.
A decision that is deemed “too little too late” for several students who have already considered reorienting themselves or even leaving the region.
“It’s a bit like funeral,” said a student in francization encountered by Noovo Info during an activity highlighting the last day of the francization lessons that took place on Thursday.
“I have many friends who want to continue and learn the French language, but there is no solution. How are we going to do? ” questions another student.
The teachers concerned share their concerns with francization students. Most of them say they are “very mixed” by the in extremis response of the Legault government, which decided to finally keep six open classes.
-“It’s powder in the eyes,” says Andréanne Tremblay, a Francisation teacher in Center-Louis Jolliet.
“We are going to their country to tell them to come to Quebec, that we need workers and ultimately that is how we treat them?” Asks Luna Estevao Andrade, also a French teacher.
