Sony is rolling out a new update for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles. Don’t let its size put you off, your console will thank you for making it.
There was a time when launching a video game was extremely simple. Plug in the consoleinsert the cartouche or the CDturn on the device and play. That’s all. Since machines became connected to the Internet, these memories have almost been relegated to the status of urban legends. Who has not undergone the famous 32 GB “day one patch” that must be installed before enjoying a newly purchased title? And that’s without counting the console updates herself.

As on our PCs or smartphones, manufacturers deploy them regularly. A necessity if only to correct bugs, but also to bring real new features. We think, for example, of the new interface of the PlayStation 5 last October, or of the one which facilitates the transfer of data between PS5 and PS5 Pro. Sony has just published its first update of 2025. It concerns both the standard PS5 and the PS5 Pro.

No more suspense: the numbered patch 25.01-10.60.00weighing 1.31 GB, is one of those that will not revolutionize your experience. This does not mean that we should miss out. The patch notes given by Sony are as follows:
- “We have improved the performance and stability of the system software.
- We have improved the messages and the ergonomics of certain screens.”
A laconic formulation which does not allow us to know exactly what has changed, for example which screens benefit from better ergonomics. If you have not configured the automatic downloading and installation of updates on your PS5, go to Settings > System > System software > Settings and system software update. You will then see the mention Update available. Launch the latter with Update system software.
