Price: a few more months of respite?

The months go by and are similar on the price front. Circana’s monthly study confirms the calculations of A3 Distrib / Éditions Dauvers: deflation is still well established. In January, compared to December, prices were down 0.4%. And over one year, deflation reached 0.8%. But (and as already predicted in the fall), there are probably only a few months of respite. Between now and spring, it is in fact likely that the indicator will go “into the red” again, at least for the month-to-month measurement of inflation (the one that will really measure the change in trend). Because even if the current trade negotiations succeed in moderating the price increases requested by manufacturers (mostly from 4 to 6%), it is unlikely that the landings will not be inflationary…
