Suspects already known to the police

If the reasons for the sequestration remain unclear for the moment, the individuals behind the hostage-taking would already be known to the police. According to information from BFM Lyonthe suspects live in the Lyon region and were born between 1980 and 1998.

Investigations must now continue to determine the role of each person and the motivations for this sequestration. But according to the first elements of the investigation, drugs could well be at the origin.

On the morning of January 16, four men were arrested with at least one handgun in their possession, after a major police operation to free the couple. A last one was arrested later in the evening. The man targeted by the hostage-taking, aged 39, is also known to the police. He had recently been involved in a drug trafficking case.
