Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scores his career-high 54 points against the Jazz

For many months, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander flirted with the 50 point mark without ever crossing it. It is now done with 54 points in the Jazz’s nose.

If we felt that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was going to hit the 50 point mark sooner or later this season, we would not have bet on this meeting against Jazz.

It must be said that if SGA has to put in more than 50 units, it needs a close match against a team that gives one of the best a hard time. teams of the League for 48 minutes and in theory, this game against Utah should be a walk in the park for OKC.

Except that theory can sometimes differ from practice.

Mark Daigneault’s men came across a very competitive Jazz team which perfectly knew how to target THE Thunder’s main weakness, namely the interior sector.

The John Collins – Lauri Markkanen – Walker Kessler trio enjoyed a poor racket due to the absences of Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein.

This meeting was therefore close from start to finish and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said to himself that this was finally the opportunity to shatter his career record.

Minute after minute, he dissected the Jazz defense with his mid-distance game of which he has the secret, but also his art of provoking mistakes which can annoy some.

At the start of the last act, the favorite for the MVP – not to say the future MVP – has 43 points on the clock. If the 50 mark is, obviously, in the sights, SGA does not force it. He lets his friends enjoy it, but, of course, when he has to put the ball in the basket, he doesn’t tremble.

The OKC franchise player passed 46 points to establish his new career record, eventually surpassing the famous 50 points, a level that held him back so much.
