Jets: A few weeks of absence for Lowry

Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry will be out for a few weeks with an upper-body injury.

“It’s a heavy loss,” lamented Jets head coach Scott Arniel. “As was the case when we had injuries earlier this season, some players will need to step up their game. »

Lowry was injured in the first period of Monday’s game against the Utah Hockey Club. In 48 games this season, he has collected 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists).

« Lows is, in a way, our backbone,” described forward Mason Appleton. He does a little bit of everything on the ice. He scores goals and defends very well. This is a heavy loss for us. We can’t wait to see him again. »

Appleton will return to action against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday (9:30 p.m. ET; KTVD, ALT, TSN3), after an 11-game absence. He was injured in his lower body.

“I got injured before Christmas, and the problem ended up not being what I thought,” he explained. I tried to play a match despite the pain, and that’s when I noticed something was more serious than expected. »

The Green Bay, Wisconsin native has 15 points in 37 games this season.

“I probably won’t feel 100 percent tonight,” Appleton admitted. I will still have to find my bearings quickly and build on that. I’m excited to get back into the game.”
