Donald Trump has demanded an apology from Episcopalian Bishop of Washington Mariann Budde for a sermon in which she expressed concern about the fear the US president sowed among immigrants and members of the LGBTQ community.
Donald Trump was angered by a woman of the Church. The new American president described the Episcopalian bishop of Washington, Mariann Budde, as “nasty” this Wednesday, January 22, demanding an apology from him, the day after a sermon in which she expressed concern about the fear sowed by the American president among immigrants and members of the LGBTQ community.
“This pseudo-bishop hates Trump fiercely”
“This pseudo-bishop who spoke at the national prayer service Tuesday morning was a radical left, who hates Trump fiercely,” he wrote on his Truth Social platform. “She brought her church into the world of politics in a very ungrateful way. She was mean in her tone and it was neither convincing nor intelligent… She and her church owe the public an apology!” the message continued. During his religious service at the Washington National Cathedral, the Episcopalian bishop urged Donald Trump, seated in the front row next to his wife Melania, to show “mercy”. “There are gay, lesbian, transgender children from Democratic, Republican or independent families, some of whom fear for their lives,” she said, adding that “the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals.”
Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, of the Episcopal Church, pleaded with Donald Trump to “have mercy” on illegal immigrants, transgender children, and those who are now “scared” after he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

After being sworn in for the second time as President of the United States, Donald Trump immediately issued decrees targeting illegal immigration and denying the existence of transgender people. The Republican remained impassive during the church service, only declaring upon his return to the White House that the church service “could have been much better.” In his post on Truth Social, he was blunt: “Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was very boring and uninspiring. She is not very good at her job!”, he judged, while once again castigating “illegal migrants”.
