A new fire in Los Angeles extends over more than 200 hectares

The fire, dubbed the Hughes Fire, was reported around 10:30 a.m. local time Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the area of ​​Lake Hughes Road near Castaic Lake, about 50 miles northwest of central Los Angeles, the broadcaster reported. KTLA information, specifying that it spread in less than an hour and a half.

Fueled by heavy, dry plants and driven by gusty Santa Ana winds, the new wildfire in Southern California spread quickly, authorities said, adding that evacuation orders had been issued in the Castaic Lake area and in remote areas of the surrounding canyons.

Los Angeles County has been plagued by deadly fires in recent weeks. The Pacific Palisades and Altadena fires, the largest in the most populous county in the United States, have killed 28 people, prompted numerous mandatory evacuations and destroyed thousands of structures.
