Fans praised Rodrygo for his outstanding performance during the Champions League encounter between Real Madrid and RB Salzburg on January 22. The Brazilian winger scored twice as the Whites triumphed 5-1, securing their progression to the knockout stages.
Entering the match as favourites, Real Madrid initially struggled to appear dangerous, failing to register a shot in the opposition’s penalty area in the first 20 minutes. However, they quickly found their rhythm, opening the score through Rodrygo in the 23rd minute, before the latter doubled the lead just 11 minutes later.
Kylian Mbappé added a third goal three minutes after the restart, taking advantage of a defensive error by Salzburg goalkeeper Janis Blaswich. Vinicius then scored the fourth goal in the 55th minute, before sealing the score in the 77th minute.
Mads Bidstrup managed to reduce the deficit for Salzburg five minutes from time, but it was little more than a consolation.
Although Vinicius was named player of the match, Rodrygo’s performance was also remarkable, as he achieved an impressive rating of 8.3 on Sofascore, placing him as the second best player in the Real Madrid squad.
