Paris overthrows the Citizens (4-2) and maintains hope in the Champions League

FOOTBALL – A very close duel at the top. At the end of a match full of twists and turns, PSG overthrew Manchester City (4-2) this Wednesday, January 22 at the Parc des Princes. In a bad position on this penultimate day of the group stage of the Champions League, the Parisians have completely relaunched themselves in the main European Cup.

PSG initially thought they could open the scoring in this match with a first goal from Hakimi, which was ultimately refused for an offside position. At halftime, the two teams were tied (0-0).

Sequence of goals in ten minutes

In the second half, the match took a whole new turn. The Citizens scored a first goal in the 50th minute, then a second in the 53rd minute, respectively by Grealish and Haaland. Three minutes later, in the 56th minute, Ousmane Dembélé on the Parisian side reduced the score to 2-1. And Bradley Barcola then equalized in the 60th minute of play. That’s four goals in just ten minutes.

PSG ended up taking the advantage (3-2) in the 79th minute, thanks to a goal from Joao Neves, omnipresent throughout the match. At the end of added time, Gonçalo Ramos added a fourth and final goal.

With this victory, PSG places itself among the teams provisionally qualified for the Champions League play-offs. But this qualification remains to be confirmed next week against VFB Stuttgart. All it will take is a draw at PSG to qualify for the European Cup.
