With several teams fighting for survival in the UEFA Champions League group stage, many issues remain before the competition ends.

There are only two days of the group stage left, and places for the round of 16 as well as the playoffs are up for grabs.

Premier League champions Manchester City and Ligue 1 kings Paris Saint-Germain were among the teams favored to go far in the tournament at the start of the season, but now face fighting to keep their hopes alive with two remaining meetings.

The two clubs will face off on Wednesday evening – live on TNT Sports and discovery+ – with City currently in 22nd place and PSG out of the playoff spots in 25th.

Manchester City have had a difficult time with just one win in 13 matches in all competitions at the end of 2024, but appear to have regained their momentum.

For their part, PSG have not lost since the end of November and are nine points ahead at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, which should give them great confidence before hosting City.

Manchester City won the 2023 Champions League final, completing a historic treble, but could fall out of the first round just 20 months later if they fail to win their final two group stage matches.

They find themselves on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs, currently in 24th position.

A victory against PSG would allow them to take a decisive step towards a place in the playoffs, while the hopes of the French champions would then be hanging by a thread.

PSG, in the event of a victory at the Parc des Princes, would overtake their English rivals in the standings and postpone the battle for a place in the playoffs until the last day.

Manchester City travel to Parc des Princes to face PSG in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday 22 January.
