Controversy following Juma Bah’s transfer from Valladolid to Manchester City

Sierra Leonean defender Abdulai Juma Bah has terminated his contract with Real Valladolid after triggering his €6 million (approximately $6.24 million) release clause to join Manchester City, as reported confirmed the Spanish club in a firm statement this Wednesday.

“Abdulai Juma Bah and his agent communicated to Real Valladolid yesterday afternoon their intention to unilaterally terminate the contract binding the two parties,” the club’s press release revealed.

On Tuesday, Manchester City sent a communication asking the club to begin negotiations for the potential transfer of the player.

However, “today (Wednesday) the Sierra Leonean player has decided not to show up for morning training,” the statement continued.

Faced with these developments, the club held the player responsible for a violation of his contractual obligations and instructed its legal department to begin disciplinary actions in this regard.

The club believes that Manchester City is “behind” the player’s decision not to attend training, which “puts Real Valladolid in a vulnerable position, having recently rejected financial offers of a higher amount”, a statement said. he lamented.

Furthermore, Valladolid highlighted that the 18-year-old is still in the legally protected period of his youth and recently refused to sign the required player’s license for a higher category team, which would have automatically increased his release clause .

Juma Bah joined the team last summer on loan from AIK Freetown. According to the Valladolid club, the loan agreement with the Sierra Leonean team was due to expire on June 30, and included a clause allowing Valladolid to activate a purchase option, which the club exercised on January 1.

The Spanish club also noted that the Royal Spanish Federation confirmed that the player had deposited the necessary amount to terminate his contract and warned that it reserves the right to take appropriate legal and sporting actions to defend its rights and interests.

Manchester City are yet to officially confirm the arrival of the young centre-back, although British media are reporting that he will be loaned to French club as part of the deal involving the signing of Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
