Leave everything behind and become a documentary director: that’s the idea of this new Breton school, Skol Doc. “We are looking for people who have a real desire to make films, a desire to write and, above all, to tell stories,” says Jean-Jacques Rault, director of the future school, in Mellionnec (22), with passion. A not trivial project, which from September 8, 2025, will shake up the routine of this small town of 400 inhabitants.
“People who have entered working life”
The training “Directing, editing, producing, training together in documentary cinema” runs over 14 months, from September 8, 2025. It is aimed at people returning to studies or professional retraining: “We are looking for people who have entered working life, who have acquired skills that they will use here,” explains Jean-Jacques Rault, founder of the Ty Films association and director. He himself retrained after having been a farmer in Central Brittany. He notably directed the documentary “20 years without a farm”, where he recounts his own experience.
