The French giant, Victor Wembanyama, returned to his hometown of Chesnay (Yvelines).
The basketball player is visiting France with his San Antonio Spurs team for the NBA Paris Games 2025.
Victor Wembanyama made his entrance on Tuesday January 21, to the applause of fans gathered in Chesnay, the French basketball player’s hometown. Returning to the field of his childhood, the NBA player did not hide his emotion. “It’s really amazing to be here in my hometown. I see a lot of familiar faces”he confided.
Faced with dozens of young players, Victor Wembanyama, 2.21m tall, was able to measure his effect: “It’s impressive because it’s an example for us,” said underlined a young fan.
Sports equipment worth 500,000 euros
The NBA superstar, visiting France for the NBA Paris Games, also came to inaugurate his project: two freely accessible basketball courts in Chesnay. Total cost: 500,000 euros partly financed by the foundation of his San Antonio club. “For the children, it’s without any hesitation. As soon as I was offered the project, it’s the first thing I wanted to do,” confided the basketball player.
-After this visit to Chesnay, serious things will resume for Victor Wembanyama. Two NBA matches are scheduled at the Accor Arena in Paris Bercy, Thursday January 23 and Saturday January 25.
