A fire damages a residence in Sainte-Séraphine

A fire caused significant damage to a residence on Route Principale in the village of Sainte-Séraphine on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters from the Kingsey Falls Fire Safety Service (SSI) were alerted shortly after 8 a.m. “It was the residents who called 9-1-1 when they noticed the presence of smoke,” said the director of the SSI, Yannick Desruisseaux.

When firefighters arrived, the three residents were able to evacuate, but they were bothered by the smoke. “They were taken by ambulance to the Hôtel-Dieu in Arthabaska to receive appropriate care,” said Director Desruisseaux.

The fire started in the basement and quickly spread. “We made a quick attack to quell the fire, but the smoke spread everywhere. The damage amounts to nearly $100,000,” the officer said.
