Trump’s first threats are to his old ally Putin. The new President of the United States assured this Wednesday, January 22 that if Moscow does not conclude an agreement with Ukraine “NOW”, he would not have “no choice but to impose high levels of taxes, tariffs and sanctions on everything Russia sells to the United States and other countries.”
“It’s time to FIND AN AGREEMENT”, wrote the American president on his Truth Social network, assuring: “I am not trying to harm Russia. I love the Russian people and I have always had a very good relationship with President Putin.”
The day before, in front of journalists, the President, who had just returned to the White House, had called on his Russian counterpart to find a «accord» peace with Ukraine, otherwise Russia risked being “destroyed”. The Republican billionaire re-elected on November 5 has repeatedly stated that he is preparing a summit meeting with the Russian president to “to end it” with this conflict, triggered by the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
