American Ben Shelton, seeded No. 21, qualified for the semi-finals of the Australian Open, winning three sets to one (6-4, 7-5, 4-6 , 7-6 [4]) against Italian Lorenzo Sonego on Wednesday to close the day program in Melbourne
Shelton, 20th ATP player in the world, will face the winner of the match between Italian Jannik Sinner, seeded No. 1, and Australian Alex De Minaur, seeded No. 8, scheduled for a night session ( Wednesday morning in France).
This is the second time Shelton has reached the semi-finals at a Grand Slam after the 2023 US Open.
