Metzeral. Missing hiker found dead

The search began on Tuesday afternoon, January 21, after a hiker reported getting lost near the Altenweier in Metzeral.

The 33-year-old man was found dead this Wednesday morning, January 22, not far from the path that leads to Rainkopf in Metzeral.

The search, which mobilized police and firefighters with three dogs and a drone, was interrupted in the middle of the night. They resumed this Wednesday morning with the gendarmes of the high mountain platoon and the gendarmerie helicopter. The hiker’s car was found Tuesday in Hohneck. His phone was turned off and he could not be located.
