Netflix reaches a historic milestone… and once again increases its prices

Netflix is ​​taking stock and celebrating its 300 million subscribers with a further increase in its subscription plans.

An increase for the moment confined to the United States, Canada, Argentina and Portugal, from which we nevertheless have little chance of escaping judging by the habits of the platform. Netflix justifies this umpteenth increase by the need to finance ever more expensive productions.

This is the first time that Netflix has increased the price of its ad-supported subscription, launching in 2022 for $6.99 per month. Here are details of the new pricing applied by Netflix in the countries concerned.

  • Standard subscription with advertising: $6.99 to $7.99 per month.
  • Standard subscription without advertising: from $15.49 to $17.99 per month.
  • Premium Membership: $22.99 to $24.99 per month.

The platform, increasingly aggressive regarding account sharing, announced at the same time the implementation of an option allowing you to add an additional member to your household when you subscribe to the Standard plan with advertising. An option priced at the same price as an individual subscription, $7.99 per month.

Despite these repeated price increases, Netflix has never done so well. These announcements, made on the occasion of the American company’s latest financial report, are accompanied by the publication of historic figures for the platform launched almost 30 years ago.

Netflix recruited no less than 19 million subscribers in the last quarter of 2024. Growth driven in particular by the success of the second seasons ofArcane and of Squid Game. In total, Netflix has 301.6 million subscribers worldwide – which naturally makes it the most popular SVOD platform on the market. According to its latest report, Disney+ is currently capping around 155 million.

With net profit established at $1.9 billion, Netflix is ​​doing better than ever and intends to ride the wave to further diversify its catalog in 2025. In the United States, the platform is in fact renowned for broadcasting also major sporting events. Last year, Netflix signed a ten-year partnership with WWE, the American professional wrestling league. At the end of 2024, Fifa, the International Federation, granted Netflix the broadcast rights for the 2027 and 2031 editions of the Women’s World Cup.

In 2025, series fans will also be able to discover the highly anticipated final season of Stranger Thingsas well as season 2 of Wednesday.
