Customers at the Ikea store in Aubonne evacuated after an alarm was triggered – rts.ch

This Wednesday late morning, customers at the Ikea in Aubonne were evacuated after an alarm was triggered. But according to the Ikea press service, there was neither fire nor smoke. The alarm was caused by an incident on the heating, which may have released steam, he continues. The store is expected to remain closed all day.

The Ikea press service confirms that an evacuation alarm occurred this Wednesday morning in the Aubonne store. “All employees as well as customers therefore had to leave the building immediately,” underlines the furniture store.

The exact reasons for the incident are not yet known. But Ikea emphasizes that there was no fire or smoke at any time. As the alarm was triggered by an incident in the heating installation, it is entirely possible that steam was the cause of the triggering, he said.

No injuries

The Vaud police were notified around 11:00 a.m. of this incident. “There were no injuries,” said one of its spokespersons. The release of smoke did not disrupt the A1 motorway next door, according to him.

“There was no fire and there is therefore no damage at this stage”, indicated earlier the Aubonne trustee, Yves Charrière, returning to several media reports. “This is a problem in a technical room, in this case a pressure boiler,” he said.

The store is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day on Wednesday.
