Rivalry Series: Victory player Jennifer Gardiner added to Canadian team

Jennifer Gardiner, of the Victoire de Montréal, is one of four hockey players added to the Canadian team for the end of the Rivalry Series against the Americans, February 6 and 8.

In addition to the 23-year-old striker from Surrey, the club is joined by defenders Micah-Zandee Hart and Sophie Jaques, as well as goalkeeper Corinne Schroeder.

Hockey Canada announced the identity of the 25 players on the team on Tuesday, ahead of the games in Halifax and Summerside.

The other Victory players in the squad are Marie-Philip Poulin, Ann-Renée Desbiens, Laura Stacey, Kristin O’Neill and Erin Ambrose.

In this edition of the Series, Canada prevailed twice and suffered a setback. The first three clashes took place in the United States.

The maple leaf lost 7-2 before winning 5-4 and 4-1, in matches played in San Jose, Utah and Boise.

The Canadians have won 17 of 31 times against the United States since the Rivalry Series began in 2018-19.
