The No. 8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes put on a stunning performance in Atlanta on Monday night, capturing their first national championship since the 2014 season. The event was made even more special with the presence of the superstar of the NBA, LeBron James, passionately supporting his beloved Buckeyes.
James was a constant presence throughout the game, vocally cheering for Ohio State and praising the team’s outstanding quarterback and offensive MVP, Will Howard, after their 34-23 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish , seeded No. 7.
“It’s great to be a Buckeyes fan…The MVP of the game is really the entire Ohio State team, but seriously, it’s Will Howard,” James said. “Will handled the game very well. Will Howard finished a remarkable College Football Playoff campaign in style against Notre Dame, completing 17 of 21 passes for 231 yards, with two touchdowns and 57 rushing yards. His impressive performance certainly earned the admiration of one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Recently, during the “New Heights” podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, he revealed that former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel recruited him to play football and Basketball in Columbus before he ultimately chooses a career in the NBA.
“Jim Tressel knocked on my door. If you come to Ohio State, we want you to play both sports. I would seriously consider it,” James shared. “My best friend at the time, Sian Cotton, went to Ohio State to play football. It could have been an amazing experience. I could have roomed with him, played football in the fall and basketball during the ‘winter and spring.’
