possible upcoming revenge against the NHL

The Edmonton Oilers star was scheduled to have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety yesterday following a double-check he gave Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland , during the clash between Canadian troops last Saturday.

Yesterday, the verdict came in for Connor McDavid and he was given a three-game suspension for this action:

The NHL also punished Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers for a similar gesture he committed against Evan Bouchard. Myers also received a three-game suspension.

Following this verdict, opinions seemed divided regarding the suspension given to #97 of the Oilers. The main person concerned also stated that he was disappointed with this decision. However, despite his disagreement, he will not appeal the decision.

On the other hand, it seems that the Oilers captain could try to obtain revenge in another way against Gary Bettman and the NHL.

Indeed, according to what the popular podcast reports 2 Mutts HockeyMcDavid’s clan could take a step back from participating in League-related events.

“We’re told Connor McDavid and his team are strongly considering scaling back their NHL promotional tour events, such as media interviews, to keep things moving forward for the League.

This was previously communicated to the NHL due to the lack of protection star players receive in that league.

This is a story to follow over the coming weeks. »

If this is the case, the NHL would therefore lose the collaboration of an important face on the Bettman circuit. Still in this same vein, McDavid’s teammate, Corey Perry, also commented on the suspension given by affirming that, in other professional sports leagues, star players are protected.

“Why don’t we protect star players?

Every other league does it – Mahomes, LeBron… They protect their star players. »

– Corey Perry, on McDavid protecting himself.

In 43 games this season, McDavid has scored 20 goals and added 45 assists for a total of 65 points which places him 5th in NHL scoring. His teammate, Leon Draisaitl, is second with 69 points.

The Oilers will be in action this evening as they receive a visit from Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
