A triple-folding smartphone expected by the end of 2025
The main novelty of the 2025 range will be the triple folding smartphone. According to leaks reported by The Elec, this model will feature a 9.9 to 10-inch screen when unfolded, offering a surface area equivalent to a small tablet. When folded, the device will adopt a so-called “G-type” configuration, where the screen folds inwards for better protection against impacts and scratches.
The device, based on the 2023 Flex G prototype, should however be relatively thick, measuring around 15mm in folded mode. Samsung plans production limited to 200,000 unitswith an expected launch between July and September 2025.
Improvements for Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7
The Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, key elements of Samsung’s foldable range, will benefit from notable updates. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will likely be thinner than its predecessor. Samsung is reportedly considering removing the digitizer from the S-Pen to reduce the overall thickness of the device. This removal had already been experienced on the special edition of the Z Fold 6.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, no major changes have yet been confirmed, but the model could receive minor improvements in terms of performance and ergonomics. At the same time, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a more accessible version, will be powered by the Exynos 2400e processor and should attract an audience looking for a less expensive foldable.
-Increasingly strong competition in the foldable market
Samsung is seeking to strengthen its position in the face of growing competition, particularly from Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei and Honor. The latter offer thinner devices and, often, at more attractive prices.. With this diversification, the company hopes to expand its audience and reposition itself as a market leader.
The triple folding model will in fact be a step in the evolution of foldables, but its limited production suggests a cautious approachto assess demand before considering a larger scale.
We are especially impatiently waiting for Apple to enter the niche, with, I dream, a foldable iPhone which displays iPadOS in unfolded mode !
