Lars Ricken makes cryptic statements about Nuri Sahin’s future following fourth straight Dortmund defeat

Nuri Sahin’s future at the helm is anything but certain after Borussia Dortmund’s latest loss, coming at the hands of Bologna in the UEFA Champions League. This is the Black and Yellow’s fourth consecutive loss in all competitions, and the pressure is mounting on Nuri Sahin.

Current Managing Director for Sport, Lars Ricken, was somewhat ambiguous with his responses to reporters following the loss, stating:

“My expectations after Frankfurt were clear. We need wins and results. We haven’t won the last four games. I have a good, trusting relationship with Nuri. He has my support too. But of course my statements also stand. “Lars Ricken

When pressed on whether or not Sahin should be sacked, Ricken was noncommittal, stating:

“So you are not going to get a decision from me here in Italy that is based on emotion and shot from the hip. We will go home tomorrow and sit down together in peace. We only want what is best for Borussia Dortmund and what the solutions are so that we can get back on track. “Lars Ricken

Should this be the end of the line for Nuri Sahin, it would make sense to hold off on any formal announcements until the morning. Borussia Dortmund are on the road in Italy, and no good could come from an impulsive or emotional sacking, especially with a shared trip back to Dortmund.

In a predictable manner, when asked if a decision would be made on Nuri Sahin’s future before Saturday, Lars Ricken simply replied:

“That is right, we will discuss it tomorrow.”Lars Ricken
