Weather: 26 departments placed on yellow alert this Wednesday, what should we expect?

Météo-France has today placed 26 departments on yellow alert for snow, ice, floods and avalanches for this Wednesday, January 22. Snow and ice warnings seem to be limited to the morning of this Wednesday, more precisely from 3 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The departments concerned are mainly located in the north and east of the country.

The departments are:

“Locally freezing fogs”

The meteorological agency declared that “locally freezing fogs are still present in the early hours of the day in the Grand-Est. In the morning, scattered precipitation affects the northern half of the country, giving a few flakes temporarily over the Hauts de France, and a temporary risk of rain on frozen soils from eastern Burgundy Franche-Comté to Alsace and Lorraine“.

“In the Alps, snow falls from 1300/1600 m in the morning, but rises above 1800/2000 m in the afternoon. Temperatures continue to rise. Morning frosts are rejected near the Belgian borders and The minimums are generally between 1 and 5 degrees in the rest of the northern half, from 3 to 8 degrees in the south. The maximums range from 5 to 10 degrees. Channel and Pays de Loire to the Grand-Est, from 9 to 14 degrees elsewhere”added Meteo-France.
