Everything is going very quickly, we take stock

Just hours after taking power, Donald Trump has already launched a carpet of bombs. He implements his policy by force. In our camp, we are so used to “left” presidents betraying their mandates that it is shocking. The far right, when it comes to power, implements its promises. And quickly.

The new president uttered a sentence that reminds us of divine right monarchies: “I believe my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.” The Trumpist mission is therefore a divine crusade.

Then he took to the stage in a large concert hall filled with fans to sign decrees amid cheers. It is difficult to illustrate more clearly the society of spectacle, now pushed to its climax. Sitting at a desk set up on a stage, he signed the documents before brandishing them in front of the delirious audience and throwing his pencil into the crowd like a rockstar.

The decrees

Among the first decrees, the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization, which also implies the cessation of financing of this global institution which fights against epidemics, which has virtually eradicated smallpox or malaria, and implements measures to stem AIDS or carries out humanitarian interventions, among others.

Another decree, the lifting of sanctions against Israeli settlers who commit crimes in the West Bank, violating international law. Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich praised the “unwavering support” of Donald Trump. This is carte blanche for the theft of Palestinian land. A priority for the new leader.

Trump also pardoned more than 1,500 participants in the 2021 Capitol assault, whom he described as “hostages.” In the land of mass incarceration and repression, a far-right president frees hundreds of rioters. It’s okay, since they are fascists.

The new president also announces that he will “identify and dismiss more than a thousand people” within the administration: a major purge. He also decided to reinstate Cuba on the list of states “supporting terrorism”.

Furthermore, this Wednesday morning, the government site Reproductiverights.gov, dedicated to sexual and reproductive rights, is no longer accessible. In particular, he provided information on contraception. Likewise, the Spanish version of the official White House website has disappeared and displays “404 page not found.” A symbolic measure in a country with a strong Spanish-speaking minority.

Other decrees will follow in the coming days, for example the exclusion of transgender people from the army and women’s sport, the state of emergency at the border with Mexico and the sending of the army, the end of land rights, a major expulsion program for immigrants, the relaunch of fossil fuel extraction…

Furthermore, after his outstretched arm in the middle of a meeting, Elon Musk quipped on his social network: “The “everyone is Hitler” attack is so outdated.” He doesn’t deny it, he laughs about it. To criticize his salvation would be “corny”. It is therefore a deliberate maneuver: after having made a salute shocking the whole world, he puts things into perspective by maintaining doubt. Thus, nothing can be considered a fascist symbol, even the most obvious things.

At this rate, soon, even brandishing a swastika risks being normalized, under the pretext that “oh, you with the misplaced mind, you really see Nazis everywhere, it’s a Hindu symbol”.

Ministers

At the same time, the new government is clarifying:

• Cheers: Robert F. Kennedy junior. He declared very seriously that “Covid-19 affects certain races disproportionately. It harms whites and blacks more. The most immunized are the Ashkenazim and the Chinese” or that “Anne Frank enjoyed more freedom than unvaccinated people”.
  The new US health official also said that AIDS “is not caused by a virus. These people are dying because of poppers… they were people who had a gay lifestyle” or “it’s not a viral disease, it’s an environmental disease”. Surprising that this crazy conspiracy theorist escaped the process of natural selection.
  Opposed to vaccination, Kennedy invited Professor Perronne, a pro-Raoult French doctor close to far-right networks, to Washington for the “Make America Healthy Again” dinner. With such a minister, no wonder the USA is leaving the WHO.

• Secretary of Defense: Pete Hegseth, who believes that “Zionism represents Western civilization and defends freedom around the world.” He is a former National Guard soldier, veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He became famous as a presenter for the Fox News channel, the equivalent of Cnews.
  Hegseth wants to combat practices he describes as “woke” within the military, particularly trans people. He is accused of sexual violence by a Republican activist, he is known for his alcoholism and totally inexperienced for such a strategic position.

• Energy Secretary: Chris Wrightigure, boss of the oil sector and notorious climate skeptic. He runs the oil company Liberty EnergChris and intends to accelerate oil and gas production, as well as cut loans and subsidies for renewable energy.

• Secretary of Commerce: Howard Lutnick, great capitalist, Wall Street figure, CEO of the financial company Cantor Fitzgerald.

• To education: Linda McMahon. Basically, Trump was considering abolishing this ministry altogether. Finally, he names this lady who made her fortune running a wrestling show business. She has no educational experience beyond her participation in the America First Policy Institute lobby, which wants education that “celebrates America.”
  Trump also wants to clean up the universities, which are becoming politicized on the Palestinian question: “From my first week back in the Oval Office, my administration will inform all university presidents that, if they do not end the anti-Semitic propaganda, they will lose their accreditation and the support of federal taxpayers…”

• Director of the FBI: Kash Patel, a disturbing individual who published a list of enemies to be pursued because, according to him, they were members of the “deep state”.

• Director of Intelligence: Tulsi Gabbard, Iraq veteran, who regularly covers Russian propaganda and who met Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in 2017. A Kremlin agent at the head of the US secret service.

• Immigration: Tom Homan, nicknamed “the border tsar” or the “thick brute” by his detractors. His goal? Deport the 11 million undocumented people in the USA. Trump was seduced, he said, by the character’s “nastiness.”
  In 2018, he was the one who decided to separate families trying to cross the border. Between 3,000 and 5,000 children were taken from their parents and placed in detention. To those who accuse Tom Homan of cruelty and racism, he responds: “Say what you want, I don’t give a damn!”

• Director of the Office of Management and Budget: Russell Vought, who developed a document called “Project 2025”, an authoritarian program which proposes the establishment of a quasi-dictatorship in the USA, centralized around the president, and abolishing the independence of justice. A project so worrying that Trump had to distance himself from it during the campaign.

• National Security Advisor: Michael Waltz, a former special forces soldier, member of the Armed Services, Intelligence and Foreign Affairs committees. He is renowned for his hawkish foreign policy positions. He will ask NATO members to increase their military spending. He seeks confrontation with China and Iran.

• Ambassador to the United Nations: Elise Stefanik, fierce Zionist and critic of the UN, whom she describes as “corrupt, defunct and paralyzed” and even anti-Semitic. She advocates a “complete reassessment of American funding of the United Nations.”

• Elon Musk: we need no introduction. He will benefit from a tailor-made ministry, that of “governmental efficiency”. Musk who says he is for “freedom of expression”, but only that of the extreme right, since he censors all the people who criticize him. It boosted negationist, revisionist and racist content, including Nazi content, as no media had done since the Second World War. He wants to eliminate state aid except for his own companies. He is placed in this position to apply the same policy in the US administration as after his takeover of Twitter: 80% layoffs.
