Régis Testelin (L’Équipe): “Téji Savanier had a very good match, the real playmaker”

Régis Testelin, in ‘The Monday Debrief’ for the Team, was keen to discuss the Pailladins’ victory against AS Monaco. He highlighted the collective and the general burst of pride before pointing out three individuals: Benjamin Lecomte, Mousa Tamari and Téji Savanier.

“The team I selected this weekend is the team. I was Friday evening at this Montpellier-Monaco and like everyone I expected the Montpellier people to continue to push forward and they had a great reaction of pride, they played as a team. They were led by this Monaco team, which is certainly moribund and which is the ideal client to relaunch at the moment. There was spirit and body in this Montpellier team. There was the desire not to give up, to tell ourselves that the road is still long. A great Benjamin Lecomte in goal, a great Mousa Al-Tamari in front, author of a double. There was a lot of pride, a lot of heart, a good collective dynamic.

They are still a little far from the orange zone, there are five points I think, but it is not over and we are off to a good start. Jean-Louis Gasset was super happy and we are all happy for them. A quick word about Téji Savanier who was widely criticized for his behavior, his attitude and some slightly inappropriate words: he had a very good match, he was the real playmaker of the team in number ten behind two attackers. He had a great match and if it continues like this, they have a chance to survive. »
