Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign French defender Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg.
It is understood the Blues have agreed a fee of £11.9million with their affiliated club.
Ligue 1 club Strasbourg also belongs to Todd Boehly’s BlueCo consortium.
Although the signing is imminent, Sarr will not join Stamford Bridge until the summer.
He will instead finish the season in France, where Strasbourg currently occupies tenth position in the standings.
The 19-year-old defender joined the Lille club last summer on a five-year contract.
Already a French U20 international, he has since played 13 matches in all competitions.
If the deal goes through, it will be the first transfer made by Chelsea since Strasbourg was acquired by BlueCo in 2023.
Young winger Diego Moreira previously made the opposite move last summer after a season with the Blues.
Furthermore, three Chelsea players are currently on loan to Liam Rosenior’s team.
Andrey Santos, goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic and full-back Caleb Wiley have combined for 38 appearances this season.
Former Nottingham Forest loanee Santos also scored six goals from midfield.
