A 42-year-old man has been charged in a double homicide in Chipman last November.
Mark Elley, 42, appeared in Fredericton provincial court on Monday. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Robert Waugh and Victoria King. He was remanded into custody until his next appearance in provincial court on February 10.
On November 25, 2024, around 8 a.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of two people inside a burning vehicle near Midland Road in Chipman. When police arrived on scene, they found the bodies of two people in a vehicle destroyed by flames. Early in the investigation, it was determined that these were homicides.
-On January 19, 2025, Mark Elley was arrested without incident at a residence on Route 123 in Chipman as part of the investigation.
