Aryna Sabalenka against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
The news here is that 27th-seeded Pavlyuchenkova has the advantage in her head-to-head matchup against top-seeded Sabalenka.
That’s right, it’s just 2-1, and the last time they played was in 2021, before Sabalenka won a major. But these victories should show Pavlyuchenkova that she can stay in Sabalenka’s game and that a victory over the world number 1 is within her realm of ability.

-That’s not to say it’s likely, of course. Sabalenka, 26, is in her prime, while Pavlyuchenkova, 33, is past her prime. Sabalenka is also a two-time defending champion in this tournament and, more importantly, she just played her best match this year, a surprisingly one-sided 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mirra Andreeva.
Pavlyuchenkova’s strength lies in her power on both ends. When she appeared, few opponents could match her. However, Sabalenka took that power to another level, while adding spin, weight and margin that Pavyluchenkova never had. Gagnant : Sabalenka
