Some were already talking about a Trump “effect”, and not really wrongly. And it was Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, who confirmed this yesterday, Sunday, during a gathering of Trump supporters in Washington, on the eve of the inauguration.
“I just received photos on my phone of the first three released hostages”announced Witkoff. “Our team has done a remarkable job, but none of it would have been possible without Donald J. Trump.”he said. “His leadership extends beyond our borders, exerting a global influence that embodies the best of our ideals”he highlighted, referring to the Abraham Accords negotiated during Trump’s first term.
Trump himself congratulated his emissary and friend Witkoff for the success of his mission. “The war (editor’s note: in Gaza) would not have taken place if I were president,” he assured.
Abraham Accords: “expanding the circle of peace”
-“The Abraham Accords are not just agreements. They represent a model for a future where peace is not the exception, but the rule.noted Witkoff. “As we look to the future, we see continued significant challenges on the one hand, but equally immense opportunities on the other. Under your leadership, Mr. President, we will continue to expand the circle of peace, strengthen partnerships and promote prosperity across the world.”a conclu Wtikoff.
“The Middle East holds extraordinary potential, and thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we are unlocking that potential for the benefit of the region and the entire world,” he concluded.
Trump on Sunday welcomed what he called “an epic ceasefire agreement,” which came into force earlier in the day, describing it as “a first step toward lasting peace in the Middle East.”
