The kidnapping alert system was deployed this Monday to find two boys aged 3 and 5, kidnapped in Fourmies (North) around 1:10 p.m., whose kidnapping had been committed by their father. The two children were with their mother on the public highway when they were kidnapped. The two children were found alive a few hours later, then the father was arrested without incident “near his home” in Beuvrages, near Valenciennes, according to an AFP source.
The latter, whose photo had been released by the gendarmerie, kidnapped them at gunpoint. Aged 38 and having just been released from prison, he was prohibited from being in the presence of his ex-partner who has a “serious danger” telephone, a protection device for people threatened by their ex-spouse.

The gendarmerie provided a description of the suspect who fled in an Audi A3 vehicle. The authorities also released the description of the two children, with the following message: “If you locate the children, do not intervene yourself, immediately call 08 00 36 32 68 or send an email to the address alert-abduction @gendarmerie.interieur.gouv.fr”.
An important system had been put in place: 12 gendarmerie patrols as well as 10 gendarmes from the Lille research section. The Police and Customs Cooperation Center (CCPD) in Tournai, Belgium, was also on alert, due to the risk of the wanted vehicle crossing the border.
