The victims, Doman Doumbouya and Mohamed Lamine Touré, all students, had barely arrived at their homes when the device crackled with a loud bang, around 2 p.m.
According to testimonies collected on site, the explosion of the transformer, installed at the corner of a compound, also caused the fire of several houses. Kerfalla Sacko, a witness, claims that he was with the two victims shortly before the tragedy.

The bodies of the victims were taken care of by Civil Protection teams, while another injured person was rushed to Matam hospital.
Faced with this tragedy, Kerfalla Sacko launched an appeal to the authorities in charge of electricity management. “ We request that measures be taken to relocate transformers located above homes. What just happened is indescribable. These children left in unimaginable conditions “, he pleaded.
