Two young children, Mohammed, 5 years old, and Nassim, 3 years old, were kidnapped on Monday January 20 in Fourmies in the North. The kidnapping took place around 1:10 p.m. at rue Jean Jaurès as indicated by the Ministry of Justice. This therefore triggered a kidnapping alert around 7:30 p.m. The two children were finally found in the evening, around 9:20 p.m., reports franceinfo.
The kidnapping alert specified the build and size of the children. According to the first elements of the investigation reported by BFMTV, the two children were in good health when they were found.
The father arrested
According to the ministry, the suspect in the kidnapping is the father of Nassim and Mohammed. North African, aged 38, he was still actively sought when the children were found. The ministry also specified that the man had kidnapped the boys and fled in a gray AUDI A3 vehicle. Before being arrested without incident in the evening, not far from where the children were found, in Beuvrages, specifies BFMTV.

In total, 12 patrols as well as ten investigators from the Lille research section were mobilized in the search. The Police and Customs Cooperation Center in Tournai, Belgium, had also been alerted.
Shortly after the father’s arrest, the Ministry of Justice indicated, on X, that “By decision of the Avesnes-sur-Helpe public prosecutor’s office, the kidnapping alert is ended.“
