The administration of new US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States would withdraw from the climate agreement for a second time, jeopardizing global efforts to curb global warming.

“President Trump will withdraw from the Paris climate agreement,” the White House said in a statement. The United States, the second largest polluter in the world behind China and the largest historical polluter, had already left the agreement briefly under the Republican’s first mandate, before Joe Biden marked their return.
