The CGDIS firefighters were called due to a fire at the Goodyear factory in Colmar-Berg, avenue Gordon-Smith, this Monday, January 20, 2025 in the afternoon, as reported by our colleagues from RTL.
The CDDIS also went into more detail on the circumstances of the incident in a press release this Monday evening.
“On site, firefighters were confronted with a fire which impacted two production machines used to transform raw materials for the manufacture of tires. The fire had also already spread to an adjacent filtering installation. While the shutdown work on the filters quickly bore fruit, the shutdown of the production lines lasted until the end of the afternoon.”
Five ambulances supported by two SAMU teams
Throughout the intervention, the CGDIS benefited from the support of the operator and the factory firefighters. “The crews of 5 ambulances supported by two SAMU teams and a health officer were also confronted with 23 factory employees who had potentially inhaled smoke during their evacuation.”
After an initial screening on site, 11 people were transported for a more in-depth check in 3 hospital structures in the country. “A total of 120 firefighters were mobilized for this intervention, including drone, NRBC specialties as well as the supply unit of the Logistics Support Center.”
For its part, the Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) had communicated on its site about expected disruptions, particularly on the N22 and the N7.
