Australian Open > Alcaraz, before meeting Djokovic: “If it wasn’t him, it could be any player at the top of the ranking. And in the final, it would probably be different. But playing Novak in the quarters or in semi-finals, it doesn’t change anything”

During the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Monday (11 a.m. French time), Carlos Alcaraz will challenge Novak Djokovic for the eighth time. And he is currently trailing 4–3 in his face‐to‐face encounters with the Serb, against whom he suffered a defeat in the final of the Olympic Games last August.

“In a Grand Slam, from the quarter-finals onwards, we are facing the best in the world. If it wasn’t Djokovic, it could be any player at the top of the rankings. Playing Novak in the quarterfinals or semifinals doesn’t change anything. In the final it would probably be different. But in the quarter-finals, I will approach the match like the other times against him and we will see”commented the Spaniard at a press conference.
