Alex De Minaur closed this day of the round of 16 with a success in three sets against Alex Michelsen (6-0, 7-6, 6-3) on the Rod Laver Arena.
After leading 6-0, and with a break in the second set, the Australian experienced a little relaxation when serving to win the set, but he dominated the tie-break to leave no hope to his opponent.
After a quickly concluded final set, Michelsen may regret not having been sufficiently offensive, with only 43% of first serves succeeded by De Minaur during this match.
For his first quarter-final in Melbourne, De Minaur will face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, an opponent he has never beaten in nine meetings.
