“We don’t sleep peacefully”: who attacks cars and punctures tires at night in the village?

the essential
Car tires are regularly punctured at night in the village of Saint-Etienne-les-Orgues in the Alpes de Haute-Provence. The perpetrator is not identified. Two complaints have already been filed.

This has been going on for months. In Saint-Etienne-les-Orgues, an otherwise quiet village in the Alpes de Haute-Provence, a mysterious stranger attacks parked cars at night. Around thirty residents had the tires of their vehicles punctured.

Stella, aged around twenty, experienced this mishap twice this winter. Amount of expenses to change your tires: 800 euros. To pay the bill, she “had to sell jewelry, my television and a telephone,” the young woman tells BFM DICI.

Jean, another resident of the town, also had to replace his four tires and had to pay 1200 euros.

Not enough police patrols

Faced with this wanton delinquency, residents try to organize themselves as best they can. Stella invested in a mini-camera that films all day long. “We really don’t sleep peacefully,” she assures us, deploring the too low number of police patrols. Jean did a few rounds at the start of the night. Without success.

Two complaints were filed with the gendarmerie but the person responsible for the tire punctures is still at large.
