Patrick Bruel affected by the Los Angeles fires: “Luckily my children were not there”

Even though he is thousands of kilometers from the disaster, it is difficult for Patrick Bruel to avoid the question of the fires in Los Angeles. As he indicated on his social networks without further comments, his American house was ravaged by flames. Barely installed in the improvised press room behind the scenes of the Enfoirés concerts at the Arena in (Hérault), this Sunday, January 19, he agrees to talk about it, calmly.

“I did well to postpone my departure there for a week to participate in Les Enfoirés, even if that does not alleviate the pain which is very, very strong,” he confides. Even if we obviously always tell ourselves that we are not the ones to be pitied the most, that doesn’t take away the violence of the thing. It’s eight years of life, preparation, installation there… and then memories. Intimate things. We tell ourselves that since there are no victims, everything is fine. It’s material. Well no! It’s not just material. A washing machine is no big deal. We change it. But children’s drawings, for example, we no longer have. »

“Luckily, my children, Oscar and Léon, were not there. The first was with me in . The second was getting ready to take the plane. He offered to turn around to see what happened on the spot. I told him: You don’t turn around from anything. You’re not going to add more anguish to anguish », he says in a calm voice.

“I’ll be there next week.” The area still needs to be accessible,” he continues after feeling, here in Montpellier, the human warmth and comfort that he wanted to find with his friends. “A lot of tenderness and love surrounded me when I arrived, as is always the case with everyone. This is a bit like the common denominator of our adventure. For me, it’s touching and comforting,” he adds before detailing this 2025 edition of Les Enfoirés. The show must go on.
