Winner in four sets of Ugo Humbert, this Sunday in the round of 16 of the Australian Open, Alexander Zverev wanted to pay tribute to his opponent for the quality of his game and in particular of his second round where the German felt totally overwhelmed.
“I think if you look at the second set, I doubt anyone could win that set against him. If he finds a way to play like that more consistently, he’s sure to be in the Top 10. He’s got it all. He has the left-handed serve which is incredibly difficult to return. His feedback is incredible when it works. Sometimes he returned to the service faster than me. There aren’t many players who do that and have that ability. What is he, 14e worldwide now? He will probably move up the rankings after this tournament. I don’t know if that’s true or not. I’m just guessing. So he’s not far from being in the top 10. He’s only two or three places away. I really think he has the potential to get there. »
