Six French clubs are qualified for the round of 16 of the Challenge Cup at the end of the group matches on Sunday, only the promoted Vannes, last in the Top 14, having failed to reach the final phase. Montpellier, the only undefeated team in the group with Irish Connacht, will host in 8th, just like Lyon, who crushed the South African Cheetahs 68 to 21, and Bayonne, winner of Gloucester 55 to 17.
Racing 92, eliminated from the Champions Cup, is transferred to Challenge due to its 5th place in the group, and will travel to Perpignan for an 8th Franco-French. This is also the case for the South African Sharks, reigning Challenge Cup champions and exits from the Champions Cup, who will play in Lyon.
