The organizing committee for the festivities of Donald Trump’s second inauguration, which will take place with great fanfare on January 20 in Washington, has already collected “the record sum of 170 million dollars and is approaching the 200 million dollar mark”, reports The New York Times, which emphasizes that “this real frenzy of donations” shows how “wealthy donors and big corporations seek to curry favor with the new president”.
This sum is in fact much higher than that collected in 2017: during his first inauguration, Donald Trump only raised 107 million dollars, recalls the daily.
