The 25-year-old man was presented to a judge on Sunday January 19, he is indicted for attempted murder. He had been released from a stay in a psychiatric hospital the day before the attack.

During a press conference organized on Sunday January 19 at the end of the day,he deputy public prosecutor of Nîmes gave further details on the stabbing attack of a man on a woman in Vergèze, which occurred on Saturday January 11.
The suspect, a 25-year-old man, living near Vergèze, was arrested examination for murder Sunday January 19. Placed in police custody on Friday January 17, he confessed the facts to investigators, given the load of evidence presented to him.

According to the gendarmes’ explanation, the man was found using the town’s video surveillance cameras, supported by testimonies.
The man was hospitalized four days before the incident. According to the investigation, he had received an exit authorization on Friday January 10, the day before the attack. His criminal record was clean.
The victim, seriously injured in the neck and back, did not succumb to his injuries, but required surgery. As a reminder, she is 44 years old and has several children. She was running in the park’s fitness trail at the time of the attack, Saturday January 11 in the morning.
