Cross-country skiing: first victory for the Swede in the World Cup
The Redheads are doing well against the Swedes. SATURDAY, Edwin Anger won for the first time in the World Cup cross country ski. The next day, it was the turn of William Poromaa to let out a cry of joy as they cross the finish line. “ It’s not really the worst week Sweden has had.”commented the Austrian Mika Vermeulen, 6th of the day, in the columns ofThe evening paper. Especially if we add six podiums and the domination of Frida Karlssona little earlier in the day.
“I wanted this day so much”rejoiced William Poromaa24 years old, after a very competitive 20 km. The Scandinavian also thanked Edwin Anger. Seeing his compatriot climb to the top of the podium during the sprint the day before motivated him. And he had very good skis and was in great shape. In short, the planets were aligned for the skier who is a star in his country. “It was a very beautiful day”he summarizes.
William Poromaa also claims that he had “a fairly clear plan” in the lead to win on the demanding track of the Stade des Tuffes. He just needed to get rid of Simen Hegstad Krueger, Hugo Lapalus, Mika Vermeulen and above all Iivo Niskanen. In his mind, the Finn was his most dangerous opponent.
-“The Swedes were strong today and deserved a victory”congratulated him, adding that today, William Poromaa was unbeatable. At least by him.
