The Clus’Ter Jura workshop created wishes to generate economic activities in the service of territorial transitions. Among its initiatives was the holding, last September, of the major Crépite event (Creating innovative gems from the region).
Local residents who are doubtful, indifferent or ready to get involved
On this occasion, 300 people converted 15 of the 145 ideas from the collection phase conducted in the region into challenges. One of these challenges, entitled “Making Lons-le-Saunier a nurturing city” found its cocoon in the City of Change, supported by the GoodPlanet foundation, created by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. January marks the end of the project’s incubation period.
Time taken advantage of by Pablo Flye and Gaëlle Ribes, project coordinators, and Jean-Baptiste Renard, technical referent specializing in permaculture, to bring out an idea for a concrete implementation by listening to the Lédoniens. Fruit of the suggestion made by a resident of the Mouillères district, the prospect of creating a shared garden germinated to take root after a survey of local residents. Thus, at the end of the discussion meeting, held last Tuesday, between project leaders and residents of the neighborhood, the decision to materialize the location of the future vegetable and fruit garden space was made. The first work to identify and mulch the area will begin on January 27 on land owned by the Public Housing Office (OPH).
Promote relationships between neighbors
The initiators of the project are convinced that the approach will appeal and attract new participants as it evolves. Especially since participation is free, everyone contributes in their own way according to their means, their desires, their motivation, their free time. Providing gardening tools, working the land, bringing reclaimed water and watering, providing advice, submitting a suggestion or simply discussing the subject, there are many reasons to appreciate the place.
-What will be the destination of future harvests? The concept of a nourishing city provides the answer: harvested fruits and vegetables will supply the reserves of associations such as the Restaurants du coeur or the Food Bank, for example. The experience of Mouillères serves as a test before spreading into the municipal territory. Gardening together is first of all a way of cultivating and maintaining the bond between residents of a neighborhood with the idea of living well in the city together.
